Microsoft names a new Corporate Vice President for Latin America

Published: 5 July 2016 y., Tuesday

Cesar Cernuda is a Microsoft veteran of 19 years, and has served in several senior leadership positions for Microsoft Business Solutions, including overseeing Microsoft’s ERP and CRM business worldwide.

He most recently has been leading Microsoft’s business in Asia-Pacific region for the last three years, and prior to this served as vice president of sales, marketing and services for Microsoft Latin America, based in Fort Lauderdale.

He joined Microsoft Spain in 1997. Before that, he worked at Software AG and Bank 21.

As Vice President for Latin America Cernuda will lead Microsoft Latam, which includes six subsidiaries with more than 2500 employees and 80,000 partners.

The economic crisis in Latin America has been presenting a challenge to Microsoft, with high import taxes and poor exchange rates making selling hardware and software very difficult in the region. Hopefully Cernuda will find a way to better support the many Windows Phone users in the area, who enthusiastically supported the OS when it was introduced, but who has so far been virtually abandoned.

“It is with pleasure that I Cesar to welcome on his return to Latin America. He is an experienced leader in Microsoft, with a consistent track record of success in developing and emerging markets,” said Jean-Philippe Courtois, president of Microsoft International.

“I could not be more motivated to return to Latin America, one of the most dynamic regions and vibrant for Microsoft and a part of the world with which I am familiar and passionate. I look forward to helping our customers accelerate their digital transformation,” said Cernuda .
