BS/2 solutions are becoming popular in Africa, too

Published: 11 April 2011 y., Monday

In March this year, representatives of BS/2 Company, which belongs to Penki kontinentai group, creators and suppliers of software to secure the operations of ATMs and self-service devices, visited Nigeria. In meetings with representatives of its business partner, the international company Computer Warehouse Limited, solutions of  BS/2 Company were presented, training sessions on installation and use of the software were arranged and installation of the software was demonstrated.

The Lithuanian representatives also visited 14 Nigerian banks, including Zenith, United Bank of Africa, Skye Bank, First City Monument Bank, Access Bank and others. In some of these banks, BS/2’s video monitoring solution  ATMeye  is already being successfully used. In response to requests from banks, the software has had an additional function added to enhance security: if the video camera installed in the ATM is covered, the ATM ceases to operate. BS/2 Sales Manager Saulius Kancerevyčius says that the banks’ interest in ATM security issues is “a normal reaction”.

S. Kancerevyčius adds: “As technology improves, so does the ‘expertise’ of criminals; and each attack on an ATM contributes to loss of client confidence in the bank, which in turn affects the bank’s performance results. The BS/2 smart video monitoring and conflict management solution ATMeye.iQ is a means of guaranteeing equipment security and fraud prevention that has already been assessed by Nigerian banks. Most of them have expressed a desire to install test versions of this solution; so the visit to Nigeria was a good opportunity to increase sales of the product”.

Since most of the banks operating in Nigeria are international, it is expected that the BS/2 solutions which are rapidly gaining popularity in that country will also spread to other African countries.
