16 awarded US Medal of Freedom

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed to the White House Wednesday 16 recipients of the Medal of Freedom, the country's highest civilian honor awarded to individuals who make an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.
