Belgium close to burqa ban

Belgium moved a step closer to becoming the first country in Europe to outlaw full Islamic veils from its streets, following a landmark vote by Belgian lawmakers on Wednesday. In a unananimous vote, a committee of Belgian MPs approved a proposed law that would criminalize the wearing of clothing that covers all or part of the face, such as Muslim facial veils and burqas.
