Hopes for new stability in India

Published: 18 May 2009 y., Monday

Dawn breaks in New Delhi with the detritus of election celebrations still visible in the streets.

The overwhelming election victory by Prime MInister Manmohan Singh's ruling coalition boosts hopes of a stable government in India.

As the economy takes a downturn and tension increases with neighbouring Pakistan the definitive win will make it less vulnerable to pressures from other parties.
