Jeans Solidarity of Europe

An original action of solidarity with Belarus has taken place in Amsterdam. Dutch students put on about 50 pairs of jeans in the center of the capital of the Netherlands, to attract attention of their fellow citizens to the situation in Belarus. Jeans were hanging on trees, lamp posts, fences; even monuments were wearing jeans. There was a number 16 on the jeans. The Day of Solidarity with Belarus is marked every 16th day of every month.

Besides, participants of the action collected signatures under a petition to the government of the Netherlands to demand Belarusian government adherence to the principles of free elections. Within an hour 350 persons signed the petition.

The action was organized by Dutch branch of the movement “Students for Global Democracy”. It was covered by Dutch mass media.
