London hit by Tube strike

Published: 11 June 2009 y., Thursday

London's commuters battled into work any way they could as a 48-hour strike by London Underground workers began to bite. The walkout over pay and jobs has paralysed much of the tube network.

There are varying estimates of what the action will cost the economy but business group London First estimates the bill at £50m, equivalent to over 80 million U.S. dollars.
