Message from Mr José Manuel Durão Barroso, President of the European Commission, to His Excellency Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan:

“Dear Mr President,

I learned about the terrible plane accident that occurred this morning near Islamabad causing so many casualties and so much suffering.

On behalf of the European Commission and on my own behalf allow me to offer you our sincere condolences and the expression of our deepest sympathy and solidarity with the families of all the victims.

Please accept, dear Mr President, the assurance of my highest consideration.”
