Moldova Disappointed with OSCE PA Resolution

Published: 9 July 2005 y., Saturday

The Republic of Moldova is disappointed with the Resolution on Transnistrian conflict settlement adopted by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Session in Washington earlier this week. On Thursday, the Moldova delegation to the OSCE informed the Organization's Permanent Board in Vienna about the country's official position on the issue.
Chisinau is dissatisfied that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly ignored the Moldovan delegation's proposal on amending the draft Resolution. The delegation stated that not solely procedural aspects but also the very content of the Resolution runs contrary to the norms and standards of the OSCE activities as a whole and to the OSCE commitments on Moldova.

The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration stated in its press release, "The Parliament of Moldova will analyze - jointly with the OSCE PA leadership and parliaments of OSCE member states - the current situation in order to prevent in the future the Assembly's practice of adopting documents that fail to correspond the spirit and fundamental principles of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe".
