Nato’s new Secretary General will pay a visit to Lithuania

On 9 October, NATO’s new Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will pay a visit to Lithuania. He will meet with President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas, and will give a lecture at Vilnius University.

During the meetings, participants intend to discuss NATO’s new Strategic Concept that is being prepared, operation in Afghanistan, air policing in the Baltic States and defence plans for this region, perspectives of cooperation between NATO and Russia, the enlargement of the Alliance, energy and cyber security, and other issues.

For the attention of media representatives: we invite you to NATO’s new Secretary General’s lecture and discussion on NATO’s role in the 21st century and the prospects of its new Strategic Concept, which will take place at Vilnius University. At the event, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas will give an introductory address. Member of the Group of NATO Strategic Concept Experts Aivis Ronis, Chairman of Lithuanian Foreign Policy Forum Emanuelis Zingeris and Undersecretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of Poland Mariusz Handzlik will attend the discussion.
