Thailand's deputy Prime Minister resigns after accepting responsibility for clashes between police and anti-government protesters.
Deputy Prime Minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh's resignation is a further blow to Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat who has struggled to defuse a four-month street campaign against his government.
Yongchaiyudh was the government's top negotiator with the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), a coalition group that accuses Wongsawat of being a political proxy for former premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
