The U.S. President thanked the Lithuanian President for active participation in the UN’s activities

President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York attended lunch hosted for heads of states by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.

At the lunch, the President spoke with the U.S. President Barrack Obama. In a brief meeting they exchanged views on the work of the UN General Assembly and the UN's role in global processes. The U.S. President thanked the Lithuanian President for active participation in the UN's activities.

Lithuania currently holds presidency of the intergovernmental organisation, the Community of Democracies, in which the United States plays a particularly important role. This organisation together with the Council of Women World Leaders hosted, within the UN GA framework, a large-scale conference on women's role in global politics.
