Last year IKEA bought 60% of all furniture made in Lithuania and will increase its orders for 2004 with expected purchases of Lithuanian furniture for about LTL 1 billion (EUR 270 million).
Vilniaus Baldai, Klaipedos Baldai, Silutes Baldai, Karige, Akmena, Freda, Monda and other Lithuanian furniture producers working for IKEA, are regularly investing into new production equipment and plan a 10-15% growth in 2004.
“Having worked together with IKEA for 5 years we have become interesting for other big clients as well, and we are now negotiating with several possible new partners,” said Viktoras Majauskas, Director General of Vilniaus Baldai.
