On October 11 Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Daniyal Akhmetov, Akim of Almaty city Victor Khrapunov and Intercontinental Commerce Corporation (ICC) American company discussed tube railway and monorail project prospects in the Kazakhstani megapolis.
Kazinform agency was told by the Prime Minister’s press service that monorail ways were new public transport for Kazakhstan. They mean light ferroconcrete poles to support elevated guideway construction a few meters off the ground.
According to Victor Khrapunov monorail ways can solve urban problems. They save land in the city, good for environment, do not block motor transport. Moreover, their construction is cheaper as compared to tube railway construction.
The Prime Minister commented the priority aspect to solve the project implementation problem was transparent and efficient plan of its financing. The Kazakhstani Government is willing to study the project if such plan available, Daniyal Akhmetov stressed.
