Great Britain is the second largest source of FDI in the world, but in Poland the country is only sixth in terms of FDI stock with $3.8 billion invested by the end of first half of 2003.
"This partially stems from the fact that Poland was going through an investment boom in the mid nineties when the UK also had strong internal growth," believes David Thomas, the president of the Polish-British Chamber of Commerce. However, according to the Chamber, enlarging the EU will give British companies unique opportunities to strengthen their position in the Central Europe. "British businesses are looking for partners to produce highly processed goods in Poland, invest in infrastructure and locate money in investment funds," said Thomas.
