Cardpoint installs its first ATMs in Germany

Published: 12 March 2005 y., Saturday
Cardpoint, Britain's most successful independent cash machine operator, has awarded Wincor Nixdorf an order to supply automated teller machines for its new off-premises ATM network in Germany. Within the next 3 years up to 1000 Wincor Nixdorf ProCash 1500xe self-service systems will be installed in pubs, restaurants, service stations, supermarkets and smaller retail premises across Germany. The initial fifty machines are already in service in convenience locations around Germany. Customers will now be able to withdraw their cash easily on the spot. Independent ATM operators install their machines at third party locations where it is not financially viable for traditional banks to run ATMs either because there is so little transaction volume or because too little income is generated from chargeable withdrawals made by customers of other banks. Cardpoint has also asked Wincor Nixdorf to take responsibility for the operation of the entire estate of its ATMs installed in Germany. This service will include initial fault diagnosis by telephone, fault rectification, monitoring of self-service systems, software download, optimization of cash stocks held inside the machines (incl. optimization of replenishment intervals), management of security couriers plus booking and monitoring of these transactions. Wincor Nixdorf already delivered more than 500 ATMs to Cardpoint UK and monitors a large portion of Cardpoint's estate of approx. 2,100 off-premise ATMs in the UK.
