Construction of a “Holiday Inn Vilnius” hotel

Construction of a “Holiday Inn Vilnius” hotel has just started in the capital of Lithuania. The six storey hotel will be opened in May 2002 and will have 134 rooms, a conference hall for 300 people, a restaurant, a sports centre, etc. “Holiday Inn Vilnius” hotel will be the first in the new business and recreation area on the right bank of the river Neris, together with the new headquarters of Vilnius Municipality, “Hanneth” business centre, “Forum Palace” leisure and recreation centre and other similar buildings,” said Arturas Zuokas, the Mayor of Vilnius. “We expect other investors will come to this well located area in the centre of Vilnius”, continued the Mayor. Established in 1952 in the USA “The Holiday Inn” hotel chain now operates 1,500 hotels in 100 countries and is the second biggest hotel chain in the world. It already has hotels in Poland and Russia and plans to enter Latvia and Estonia in the nearest future.
