On 25 November in Vilnius, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė and President of the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) Johnny Åkerholm discussed the issues of the Northern Dimension Partnership on Transport and Logistics (the secretariat of which is being established at the Bank), issues of the NIB cooperation with Lithuania and perspectives of the NIB’s activities in the country.

The Vice-Minister noted that the main areas of NIB’s lending activities - the environment, energy, transport and logistics, research and development - were particularly important for Lithuania as well. These areas are closely related to the strategically important projects that were being implemented and planned to be implemented in the country. Therefore, a closer cooperation with the NIB would be very useful and welcome.

The President of NIB said that in recent years, the NIB significantly intensified its activities in Lithuania, the Bank intended to further strengthen its “presence” in the country by dedicating a lot of attention to the implementation of infrastructure projects.

J.Åkerholm confirmed that the NIB aimed at sustainable and successful development of the Northern Dimension region and of all the Baltic Sea States.
