Potential bidders have acquired the sets of privatisation documents of the Kaunas Power Plant, a subsidiary of the municipal heating utility Kauno Energija (Kaunas Energy), and five of them have already visited the company.
Among foreign companies interested in the Kaunas Power Plant are the consortium of German energy companies Verbundnetz Gas and Stadwerke Leipzig, the Finish energy company Fortum OY, the Danish energy company Elsam, U.S. National Fuel Company and the Turkish energy company AK Enerji.
All contenders are required to submit their proposals by August 7.
Major requirements for the buyers are as follows: at least 5 years experience in the heat, energy or fuel supply business, authorized capital of not less than EUR 43.5 million, and annual turnover – not less than EUR 72.5 million.
