Central European Distribution Corporation today announced it had secured exclusive distribution rights in Poland for Grolsch beer, one of the leading international beer brands in the world and for Jose Cuervo Tequila, the leading tequila brand in the world.
CEDC has taken over the exclusive rights for Jose Cuervo from Diageo and for Grolsch from the local brewery Brok/Strzelec.
William Carey, Chairman and CEO commented, 'We are excited to bring on these two world-class brands to the CEDC exclusive import list. Grolsch extends our stellar import beer portfolio and Jose Cuervo gives us one of the top names in a fast-growing Polish market for tequila. With European Union ascension in May 2004, the import duties for these brands will go to zero, thereby making these brands more price competitive with domestic products. We expect to see great potential for both brands in Poland.'
CEDC is one of the leading importers of beers, wines and spirits, as well as the largest distributor of domestic vodka on a nationwide basis in Poland. The Company operates 52 regional distribution centers in major urban areas throughout Poland. It distributes many of the world's leading brands, including brands such as Johnnie Walker Scotch, Stock Brandy, Sutter Home, Torres, Mondavi and Concha y Toro wines, Corona, Beck's, Foster's, Budweiser Budvar and Guinness Stout beers.
