First woman wins Nobel Economics

Elinor Ostrom -- an American professor who developed ways to manage common property - is the first woman to win the Nobel prize for economics.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded Ostrom half of the $1.4 million prize -- with the other half going to Oliver Williamson a retired professor at the University of California, recognized for his analysis of conflict resolution by firms and markets.
