The Poland Finance Ministry decided that entrepreneurs will be allowed to deduct part of their expenditure on innovative technologies from their tax base.
Large companies will be allowed to write-off 30%, while SMEs up to 50%. The new fiscal benefit will cost the budget over zł.100 million annually, which was one of the reasons why the Finance Ministry was initially reluctant to accept it. Currently, the value of the B index in Poland, which is used by the OECD to measure the fiscal goodwill of governments towards innovative activities, amounts to 1.24 points, which is one of the worst in Europe.
The new regulation will also introduce so-called technology loan, which will be designated for launching investments based on modern technologies. This new bill will allow the creation of private R&D centers and innovative research companies, if their revenues are at least in half constituted by sales of their own technologies.
