According to the first document, concluded with the International Development Association (IDA), the latter will allocate $20 million as the first portion of a loan under the state program on economic development and poverty reduction.
Under the second agreement, signed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), a $299,000 grant will be provided to Azerbaijan from the WB Institutional Development Fund for the activities covering “electronic government”.
The agreements were signed by the minister of finance Avaz Alakbarov and the World Bank executive Charles Griffin.
Credit agreements have not been signed on two projects approved by the World Bank board of directors so far - the $48 million “Electricity transmission system” project and one covering environmental protection in rural areas. WB earlier passed a decision to allocate an $8 million loan for the project.
The World Bank is financing 18 projects totaling some $390 million in Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani government and the World Bank institutions signed two agreements at the Finance Ministry on Friday.
