Thales UK’s headquarters site in Weybridge has recently held a Halloween charity coffee morning, raising more than £280 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The event was held in the café area where, throughout the morning, staff could purchase coffee, ‘cobweb cookies’ and ‘spooky sponge cakes’. There were numerous Halloween-themed activities, including a ‘Trick or Treat’ lucky dip, a raffle, and a Halloween crossword and a word search. We also held a book sale of books that employees have been generously donating over the past few months.

Sarah Wilson, who both lives and works in Weybridge, coordinates charity activity for Thales UK across all our sites.

“There were a great variety of fun things to do and lovely things to buy. We wanted to raise as much money as possible for Marie Curie Cancer Care, while also treating staff to an enjoyable morning,” she says.

Marie Curie Cancer Care is one of Thales UK’s corporate charities. The charity provides Marie Curie Nurses who care for terminally ill people in their own homes, surrounded by the people they love the most.

Thales UK has successfully raised more than £100,000 each year for the charity for the last two years, and this year Thales UK has committed itself to raising at least that over the next year for this worthy cause. Staff in each of our 40 offices will all hold different events in order to contribute. Every £20 raised will help Marie Curie Cancer Care fund one hour of nursing care in the home, allowing patients to be with their families during their last days.

“Marie Curie Cancer Care is an outstanding charity and we’re proud to be supporting them. Their dedication and care of terminally ill cancer patients is second to none,” says Victor Chavez, Deputy CEO of Thales UK.
