Lithuanian Cities: Baltic Future

The ‘FDI Magazine’ of the Financial Times Group surveyed 140 European cities and regions and awarded Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, the title of the “Baltic City of the Future” already for the second time. Also, the metropolis of Vilnius and Kaunas Region was named the “Baltic Region of the Future” for the second time as well.
Vilnius has been awarded for the extremely active FDI attraction and favorable business environment. The cumulative FDI amounted EUR 2.8 billion in Vilnius in 2004. The jury also evaluated the city’s highly competent specialists, institutions of higher education, IT development potential and quality of life.

Vilnius and Kaunas metropolis was named the “Baltic Region of the Future” for the economic development potential biggest in the region. In 2004 the cumulative FDI in Vilnius and Kaunas amounted EUR 3.4 billion.
