Russia's Lukoil intends to bid for stakes in oil and gas industry enterprises in the Czech Republic, Serbia and Poland.

Vagit Alekperov, the head of Lukoil, at a meeting with students in St. Petersburg did not specify which enterprises the company was targeting. However the company has applied to bid for shares in the Paramo oil refinery in the Czech Republic. Lukoil is also busy expanding its own refining and marketing potential in Eastern Europe. It already controls the Neftokhim petrochemicals plant in Bulgaria, the Petrotel oil refinery in Romania and the Odessa refinery in Ukraine.
