Minsk Tractor Works reports 19.8-percent year-on-year increase in output in January

The Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) manufactured nearly 172 billion rubels worth of industrial products in the first month of 2007, which was a 19.8-percent year-on-year increase, the MTZ economic planning department told BelaPAN.

The works reportedly built 4,709 tractors and vehicles in January, a 17.6-percent rise.

The management plans to manufacture more than 50,000 tractors and vehicles in 2007 and increase its annual tractor output to 75,000 by 2010.

In 2007, the MTZ plans to increase its industrial output by 10 percent, according to the economic planning department.

Founded in 1946, the MTZ manufactures 50 tractor models and more than 100 model modifications, and accounts for eight to 10 percent of the world's wheeled tractor output.
