What do IBM, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Apple and Siemens have in common? Some of their notebook computers are supplied by Taiwan_s Quanta Computer Inc. Quanta chairman Barry Lam Wednesday painted a rosy future for the company, saying it_s high growth should continue and the firm hopes to be the world_s largest notebook producer in 2000.
"We aim to keep our high growth, upgrade our market share step by step, and to be the world_s No. 1 notebook computer maker in 2000," Lam told a news briefing in Quanta_s new plant in Linkou, a suburb of Taipei. Lam said Quanta will continue to focus on being the original design manufacturing supplier to the leading computer brands rather than develop its own brand.
