This weekend, in the second round of Le Mans Series championship on SPA track, in Belgium, SNORAS Spyker Squadron team that participated there took the fifth high position. In the 1000 km race, where 49 cars started, SNORAS Spyker Squadron team in GT2 class competed in Spyker C8 Laviolette GT2R car.

After the poor results in the qualification, the team sponsored by AB Bank SNORAS and represented by Spyker Cars N.V. - the manufacturer of exclusive cars, started at SPA track from the ninth position. The rain and collision with another race participant hindered from achieving better results in the qualification. Still in the first qualification lap the car of SNORAS Spyker Squadron team was pushed away from the driving lane, it did not avoid the contact with the safeguarding wall, the car's front was damaged as well as its front and rear suspension.

After starting from the ninth position, SNORAS Spyker Squadron team was the fifth to cover 1000 km race distance and was only three seconds behind from the fourth position winners. This time the team's car was steered by the Dutch Tom Coronel and the sick Jarek Janis was replaced by Peter Dumbreck.

“With each lap the car was driving faster: after the track grip became better, the car's speed increased, which, of course, should have been such from the very beginning of the race. When the race started, it seemed that I was driving on ice; however, we made the last lap at the fastest speed. I am very satisfied with our result because we were only 18 seconds behind those who took the first place. The automobile was stable and the whole team showed again how professional and quick they are in servicing the car in the pit lane,” said the pilot Tom Coronel after the race.

The race on SPA track lasted 6 hours and during that time the race participants made 143 laps. Peter Van Erp, the CEO of SNORAS Spyker Squadron, also rejoices over the results achieved by the team.

“It is very important to show good results while preparing for the grand Le Mans endurance race. Although we started the race poorly, yet we were gradually accelerating and were the fifth to reach the finish line. The pilots were driving excellently and were content with the work of our entire team; however, we were convinced that prior to the grand Le Mans race we have to correct a lot of things,” said Peter Van Erp.

On 12-14 of June, SNORAS Spyker Squadron team will participate in 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in France.
