Internet search service Terra Lycos said its net loss widened seven times in 2000 amid a series of acquisitions.
The loss widened to $507 million from $70.5 million in 1999, the company said in a statement. The results include Lycos, the U.S. Internet company Terra Networks took over last year, for the months of November and December. Terra Lycos previously announced pro forma results Feb. 1, combining the two companies' separate accounts for the entire year. Terra Lycos reported a pro forma loss, before interest, tax, depreciation and one-time items, of $348 million. Its year-earlier loss was $85 million, with sales rising 87 percent in 2000 to $526 million.
Including Lycos only for November and December, Terra Lycos' sales rose to $329 million from $36.6 million, the company said Tuesday.
