BRE Bank figures up 27% despite burden of MultiBank retail branch

BRE Bank returned mid-year results of zł.70.8 million in the black, which could have been much higher if figures were not dragged down by its retail branch, MultiBank.
"In comparison to the first half of 2003 the figures
have improved by 27%, which is the best result for the last three years," said BRE Bank's deputy president Krzysztof Kokot. The result was achieved by developing corporate and investment banking, as well as basic activities. The bank is still awaiting positive effects of its investments in the
retail branches, mBank and MultiBank, which should be providing one-third of all revenues by 2006. mBank has closed the second quarter in a row in the black, while the other interest should break-even in 2005.
