The tender

Published: 13 February 2004 y., Friday
Euronext, an alliance of bourses from Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels and Lisbon, in consortium with Warsaw bourse GPW and domestic deposit of securities KDPW should take part in the tender for purchasing 54.5% shares in the Lithuanian stock exchange and a 32% stake in Central Deposit of Securities worth $1.2 million and $1.5 million respectively. "We hope that participation in the consortium with a strong European market will increase our chances of winning the tender," said Włodzimierz Magiera, deputy president of GPW. He refused to say whether negotiations were also carried out with other bourses. "The situation in which two exchanges are trying to buy the third one does not limit any options for privatizing the Warsaw bourse," said Magiera.
