UK promises billions in stimulus

The two men charged with keeping Britain's economy afloat moved on Monday to ward off a deepening recession.

 

Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his finance minister, Alistair Darling, unveiled a 20 billion pound package of tax cuts, benefits, and spending increases.

 

Brown told business leaders that it was time to move quickly.
