Uzbek-Ukrainian trade turnover up by 68.3% in 1H

Foreign trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Ukraine made up US$169.7 million in the first half of 2005 or 68.3% more compared to the same period of 2004, acting charge d'affaires of Ukraine in Uzbekistan said on Tuesday.

Oleg Klinchenko, acting charge d'affaires of Ukraine in Uzbekistan, said in press conference on 23 August that Ukraine moved from 10th place of largest trade partners of Uzbekistan to sixth. The conference was dedicated to Independence Day of Ukraine, marked on 23 August. The meeting considered current affairs and perspectives of the Uzbek-Ukrainian relations.

Klinchenko said that both Uzbekistan and Ukraine recorded growth of exports. He said that Ukrainian export increased due to supply of machinery and equipment, metallurgy products, chemical industry and foodstuff.

Ukrainian diplomat said that the share of machinery and equipment in total volume of Ukrainian export made up 62% and metal products – 19.5%. He said that equipment for oil and gas, chemical, mining and railway sectors remain demanded in Uzbekistan.
