The WB is ready to allocate $50 mil to support reforms in the public health system of Azerbaijan. The issue was discussed yesterday in Baku during a meeting between Health Minister A.Insanov and WB mission headed by project coordinator Elvira Anadolu.
The Azerbaijani party suggests building recreational centers in 5 regions of the country at the expense of the credit. The said centers will be responsible for in- and out-patient treatment, rendering urgent medical aid. The meeting also discussed results of reforms in the system of public health in 5 pilot regions, 2001-2005, including Salyan, Shamkir, Khachmaz, Sharur and Geokchay. Note that within the framework of the project the WB has already allocated $5 mil. These funds were spent for trainings and conferences, repair of medical facilities, purchase of 40 ambulances and sanitary cars, research and analysis of regional needs in public health.
