Wincor World 2006: showing the future of IT for banks and retail companies

Published: 24 January 2006 y., Tuesday

“Sharing New Perspectives” – The slogan of Wincor World 2006 invites you to a dialog on cutting-edge IT solutions for banking and retailing, where Wincor Nixdorf – with more than 70 partners – presents products, software, services and consulting over an area of 10,000 square meters. Even more so than in past years, the event will focus on its program of workshops and presentations. “Innovative Banking Business” is the title of the symposium being staged on January 24 in cooperation with the financial newspaper Börsen-Zeitung. The focus: intensifying both sales and customer loyalty, and the issue of outsourcing in the banking industry. In retail companies, a “Revolution at the Checkout” – the title of the second symposium – is looming. At this event, which is jointly organized by Wincor Nixdorf and the International Retail Network (EurohandelsInstitut), experts reveal trends and describe their experiences with the new technologies at the POS zone.

Banking

In line with its motto, Wincor World showcases international bank concepts and end-to-end solutions from practice that aim to bring customers together to discuss and exchange experiences and views. Among other things, off-premise installations, a mobile branch and future-oriented branch concepts are on display.

In addition, the entire process for automating deposits will be presented. Wincor Nixdorf’s extensive cash recycling and deposit portfolio comprises various solutions and consulting tools for optimizing the entire cash process – from the bundled processing of bank notes and documents, to coin deposits and withdrawals, to cash recycling. A major contribution to optimizing cash holdings here is made by the ProCash 4000 cash recycling system.

Solutions for the financial consultant workstation of the future, combined with front-office functionalities, are presented within the context of branch restructuring. In the multichannel arena, Wincor Nixdorf demonstrates how different delivery channels can be merged efficiently on a NetCentric platform, thus ensuring end-to-end customer and sales orientation. The Monitoring Center is on display as a means of monitoring and controlling self-service networks.

In the field of security technologies, Wincor Nixdorf has developed various concepts for banking on the basis of its many years of experience in installations for banks. Whether manipulation of an automated teller machine, theft of a system or attacks on networks, data and software – Wincor Nixdorf offers a finely-tuned security portfolio. A new and comprehensive solution for IT security is on show in the shape of the ProTect/Enterprise Security Server.

At Wincor World 2006, Wincor Nixdorf is again also presenting a range of solutions for the post office and new industries – in these sectors, too, self-service technologies add value and help businesses tap new growth potential and deliver their customers innovative solutions.

Retail

At Wincor World 2006, Wincor Nixdorf is showcasing fully integrated store processes and presenting them from the point of view of customers – from the moment they enter the store, to the process of shopping, to checking out. A wide range of new automation and self-service solutions for optimizing all processes is on display – including hardware, software and professional services. Another focal area is the integration of store IT in head office processes, with solutions for logistics and supply chain management.

Visitors will also discover the reorganization of checkout processes with various self-checkout variants and cash management solutions. Wincor Nixdorf showcases technologies for addressing customers in the shape of visual merchandising solutions.

In addition to POS technology for the traditional checkout, Wincor Nixdorf is displaying different variants of its modular self-checkout systems from the BEETLE iScan family. The portfolio here ranges from self-service systems that completely separate the scanning and payment processes, to self-checkout systems with extensive functions.

As regards the topic of cash management, Wincor Nixdorf offers concepts and services for the security of cash logistics throughout the store. One focus is on automated banknote and coin recycling with solutions from the iCash product family.

Wincor Nixdorf offers new mobile devices to support store staff in their tasks in the areas of goods receipt, price labeling and inventory. Technologies such as mobile POS solutions, the various versions of the Personal Shopping Assistant and mobile self-scanning solutions round out the product range of the solutions presented under the roof of ProMobile Store.

Reverse vending machines are currently a focus of interest, especially in Germany. With the product family “Revendo”, Wincor Nixdorf presents innovations for processing both reusable and one-way containers.

Wincor Nixdorf controls and networks all the technologies used at a store – from the mobile device to the reverse vending machine – with its store software platforms TP.net and TPLinux. This reduces complexity and cuts costs throughout the product lifecycle.

Services

In the services arena, the emphasis is again on the issue of outsourcing. With its modular outsourcing concept, Wincor Nixdorf enables banks and retail companies to focus on their own core competences, shorten the value chain and achieve improvements that enhance their earnings. The portfolio comprises offerings for outsourcing the entire self-service process chain all the way to IT outsourcing for the branch or store.

Additional focal topics are globally networked services, the management of modern information and communications technology (ICT), the latest security services, and innovative service management. The overriding aims are to ensure high availability of the systems and solutions and rapid and efficient handling of complex service processes.
