The Electronic Privacy Information Center said Friday that it filed a lawsuit to order the National Security Agency to release internal documents concerning possible interception of e-mail sent by U.S. citizens under the global surveillance initiative called Echelon. The NSA refused to hand over the papers to a congressional panel and to the Washington, D.C., privacy group under a Freedom of Information Act request.
