AOL 5.0 FINALLY ARRIVES FOR MAC

Published: 21 May 2000 y., Sunday
While version 5.0 of the AOL client software has been available to PC users for seven months, Mac users have had to soldier on with the previous version. It's fairly difficult to tell the difference between the Mac and PC versions, which is as it should be. Sure, every hardware/software platform has its strengths and idiosyncrasies, but the PC and Mac are far more similar than different at this stage of the game. While some Mac users were probably hoping for a measure of exclusivity, as they've had in the past, there are no new Mac-only features in this release. Some older Mac-specific features, such as synth- voice reading of e-mail, are still there, however. Mac users will be especially happy to have the three additional screen names, and other mail-specific features.
