Diebold's event monitoring center receives top industry rating

Published: 31 January 2004 y., Saturday
According to a news release, the designation signifies that all of the Event Monitoring Center's (EMC) central station operators meet specific industry standard security practices and are certified by the CSAA Central Station Operator Level 1 On-Line course, or are in compliance with the Security Industry Association/Association of Public Communications Officials' "Train-the-Trainer" course. The Five Diamond designation includes instruction in every aspect of associates' jobs, including alarm verification, communication, monitoring equipment, telephone and radio skills, Underwriter's Laboratories/FM approvals and emergency procedures. "A Diamond rating recognizes all current and future alarm monitoring personnel are individually tested and certified by CSAA," said Steve Doyle, CSAA's executive vice president, in the release. "This certification and annual renewal demonstrates proficiency by the staff of Diebold's central station to the continual upgrade in the performance levels of central station operators, who serve as the first line of defense in emergency response to the private sector." Diebold exceeds the CSAA requirements through the certification of all associates in the central station operations, including ancillary departments and management. Less than 1 percent of U.S. security companies have earned this level of certification. In addition to the CSAA review, Diebold also performs internal assessments and implements customer suggestions to improve service, according to the release. Diebold's EMC handles approximately 50,000 alarms per month and provides more than 26,000 sites with around-the-clock monitoring service. Customers are located throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and at various sites within the Pacific islands.
