E-payments in Lithuania: the present and the future

Published: 26 January 2004 y., Monday
The year 2003 was successful for ASHBURN International, UAB . The company has been expanding its activities in the field of e-payments in Lithuania for already six years.
Ashburn International
At the first half of the year 2003 ASHBURN International, UAB became a member of Penki kontinentai and Universalios valdymo sistemos companies’ group. This has strengthened the companies’ collaboration in the implementation of the joint product and has had a positive impact on the results of the activities thereof. The companies’ group can offer the clients wider range of the products and services adjusting them to everyone’s specific needs. “IKI-PREMIJA kortelë” (IKI-PREMIJA card) was one of the most successful projects implemented in 2003 together with the retail trade network IKI . According to the press reports IKI trade network issued 70000 personal “IKI-PREMIJA”cards. Thus we observe great consumers’ interest in the payment/discount cards issued by the trade network. Surely, such an active customers’ involvement induces other wholesale and retail trade networks think of their own discounts’ and client’s loyalty system’s creation. In October 2003 “Gandriukas” kindergarten (Fabijoniðkiø micro district) participated at the e-education institution project. At the “InfoBalt 2003” exhibition pupils thereof were presented the identification discount cards (the picture on the right). Various personal data such as information on the child’s health, his or her achievements in the educational institution, etc can be stored on those cards. Furthermore, the pupils can take an advantage of discounts for the services offered in Penki kontinentai Training centre, and internet café Despina, as well as for books and other products in on-line bookstore Books.lt. In 2003 “ASHBURN International” implemented payment cards’ project for “Lietuviðkø degaliniø tinklas” (Lithuanian petrol stations’ network) and had been creating other solutions for the trade networks. When “ASHBURN International” creates the loyalty systems it always confers with the client thus implementing the individual vision thereof. Hardware and software “ASHBURN International” uses allow creating such solutions, which meet the specific client’s requirements and are attractive to the consumers – the owners of the cards. Attractiveness of the loyalty cards is positively affected by the variety of fields it may be used in: many different loyalty functions, types of discounts, opportunity for settling the accounts, gift cards and opportunity to involve partners into the implementation of the project – other traders or even the banks. POS terminals’ network selling with the prepaid replenishment service had also been promptly growing. The electronic replenishment of “LABAS” service of Bitë GSM, UAB is available at IKI retail trade network stores and STATOIL petrol stations’ network’s sales points. “PILDYK” of TELE 2, UAB is available at the sales points of IKI, STATOIL, LUKOIL. “EXTRA” service of Omnitel, UAB is available at STATOIL and LUKOIL petrol stations and “EXTRA EXPRESS” is available at STATOIL and IKI. Joint project developed and implemented together by Omnitel, UAB and ASHBURN International, UAB was a novelty: prepaid replenishment of an account of a mobile phone using EXTRA ID card, which is served at the LUKOIL petrol stations. E-trade is promptly expanding in Lithuania. Number of services paid for electronically grows: trade in the tickets, prepaid IP telephony, settling the accounts for the Internet services. “ASHBURN International” promises to contribute to the development of e-trade continuing its successful collaboration with GSM operators and traders. ASHBURN International, UAB is planning to expand its activities in Lithuania and abroad offering wider range of services to the clients as well as fast and qualitative implementation of the solutions. It is possible since the company uses not its own solutions only but also e-payments’ authorisation system “Postilion” created by “Mosaic Software Pty”, which meets EMV (Europay, Mastercard, Visa) standard’s requirements and operates successfully in many world’s financial institutions. The system allows “ASHBURN International” to make improvements to the projects, which are already introduced, create new products and services in e-payments’ sector and offer the clients innovative solutions.
