JSC "Penki kontinentai" : Events of the Month

Here the events connected with the activity of JSC ”Penki kontinentai” that took place in May are announced.

Abroad

The representatives of JSC “Penki kontinentai” led the president of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus to Kazakhstan, Astana and Alma-Ata. During the visit an Internet website www.kazbalt.lt of the Baltic countries’ and Kazakhstan’s trade and production association “Kazbalt” was presented.

First of the 18 new „Wincor Nixdorf“ self-service equipment began their functioning in Kazakhstan. They will be serving all the summer.

JSC “Penki kontinentai” and SIA “Penki kontinentai Riga “ have signed the three-power treaty on the maintenance of the cash dispensers with the Latvian bank "Unibanka".

The Estonian bank Esti Uhis Bank expands the information kiosks network of the “Wincor Nixdorf“ equipment. The next batch is to be presented in June.

The representatives of JSC “Penki kontinentai” have visited conferences „Microsoft“ and „Compaq“ that were organized in Tallinn. During the two-day strategic partnership conference the technologies and services of „Compaq“, the producer of computer equipment, and the winnings of the “Microsoft” software and application programs were presented.

In Berlin the exhibition "Internet World 2000” took place. The most powerful companies of USA and Europe presented their production: telecommunication technologies, Internet services, e-commerce , and others. During the exhibition the conference “Information technologies communication between East and West", where the perspectives of partnership with other countries , common projects, specialist interchange programs and other important questions were discussed.




Varvara Vaðèiuk, the representative of JSC “Penki kontinentai” has presented the project www.deutschland.lt , which interested the German specialists very much. This project contains information about Germany, which is available both in the Lithuanian and in the German languages.

In Lithuania

On the 28th of May the 5th Lithuanian WWW championship took place. And on the 9th of June the winners were announced. JSC” Penki kontinentai” projects News service, information portal ”Penki kontinentai Online and website of tournaments on a virtual chess became the laureates of this championship, and Internet visitors have chosen electronic sociological magazine ”Sociumas” as the best in the category One theme.

At the end of May company “Visus Plenus”, which is specializing in the exhibition and conferences management for already ten years and organizes such well known international exhibitions as INFOBALT, ALT, VIVATTUR, BMT, with the help of JSC “Penki kontinentai” has updated its Internet website www.visusplenus.lt . The website was presented on the 2nd of May during the conference “Presentation of new technologies in the world of exhibitions", which was organised in the Internet café of JSC “Penki kontinentai”. An Internet magazine of the drivers www.ratai.lt has celebrated one-year birthday. The press-conference devoted to this event took place in the Internet café of JSC “Penki kontinentai”. During one year the magazine became very popular, a lot of people visit it every day. It contains more than 700 published articles. Furthermore, this year www.ratai.lt has participated in the several actions: was an official site of the exhibition “ALT 2000”, helped people to choose “an automobile of the nation” during the elections “The automobile of the year2000”.

Popularity of the Internet café grows. In May JSC ” Penki kontinentai“ opened two Internet cafés in Nida and one in Juodkrantë. So you may easily check your e-mail, or, having scanned recently done picture just here, send your friend a wonderful sight of the sea.

Since May “Penki kontinentai Online“ collaborates with the weekly magazine “Veidas”. Every week one or sometimes more articles on computer viruses and computer games, on the problems of space flights and on the interesting behaviour of the birds and a lot of others written by Liutauras Leðèinskis, the reviewer of the magazine, are published in “Penki kontinentai Online“.
