Once you create a Web resume, the real work begins, that is, promoting yourself online. If you don_t, your resume is likely to get lost somewhere on the cyber frontier. One way to attract hiring managers and recruiters is to submit your resume to the search engines. While it_s not a given that you_ll get results, there are a few tricks to increase your chances of getting a high ranking. Use Meta and Title tags. Meta and Title tags are inserted at the top of your HTML (HyperText Markup Language) document, in the source code. Both allow you to enter keywords and descriptions about your site.
The Meta tag, however, offers more control over how your page will show up on a search engine. That doesn_t mean you can stuff these tags with 3,000 keywords. A search engine "bot" could penalize you if overload the Meta tag. You_ll glean many more useful tips if you head over to Danny Sullivan_s Search Engine Watch (searchenginewatch.com) and read his Webmaster_s Guide to Search Engines.
