Wincor Nixdorf accompanies a branch’s entire lifecycle

Published: 23 January 2009 y., Friday

From the opening of new branches to their operation and modernization – Wincor Nixdorf presents its end-to-end offer for a branch’s entire lifecycle and shows what state-of-the-art branch design can look like. At Wincor World, the company is showcasing a branch environment with a modern design and offering interested parties a design check on site.

The guiding ideas in designing tomorrow’s branch are the intensification of sales activities and improvements in service quality. In view of changes in market requirements, the differing expectations of customers, the growing importance of multimedia delivery channels and increasing competitive pressure from direct banks, among others, it has become absolutely necessary for bank branches to reposition themselves. To retain the branch as the primary place for customer contact, Wincor Nixdorf has assembled an extensive offer entitled WIN@Branch so that banks can benefit from a reliable partner in every aspect of branch business and gain the freedom to focus on their core business.

Recent studies show that the branch still defines the personal “face” of a multi-channel bank. Many banks are repositioning their branches to reflect changes in customer requirements and the evolution of other delivery channels. In this context, Wincor Nixdorf is presenting an approach that centers on branch analysis and process consulting, branch design, project and rollout management, facility and security management, and operation of the ICT infrastructure over a branch’s entire lifecycle.

Analysis and consulting

The focus in the area of branch analysis and process consulting is on solutions for branch restructuring, calculation of the total cost of ownership for branch IT, and process optimization. Essential for the future-proof orientation of a bank is a branch structure whose foundations have been laid right at the planning stage. In this regard, Wincor Nixdorf provides tools to support banks in the analysis and optimization of their processes. The Branch Optimizer, for example, helps banks determine ideal processes in terms of cost and equipment and verify them using simulations. As a result, for instance, requirements for staff levels and self-service systems can be tailored exactly to the volume of transactions at the specific location, generating benefits such as lower costs and a higher quality of service thanks to shorter waiting times for customers and more time for consulting. Freedom to implement efficient sales strategies can be created by relieving employees of routine activities. The tool also simulates the way costs and profits will develop after the branch is restructured, or the times at which employees and self-service machines are not optimally utilized. The results of the simulation help in assessing a new branch concept and supply the basis for making more reliable decisions on this concept.

Branch design – architecture and implementation

The range of design services available builds on the information obtained about the branch. The defined processes are implemented in the appearance of the branch when it is constructed or converted. Together with the architects’ firm Kranz and on the basis of reference examples, Wincor Nixdorf is presenting the possibilities offered by modern branch design. The focus is on aspects such as discretion, security, placement of self-service machines, an open branch design or lighting, as well as “emotional banking”. We are showcasing branches with a contemporary look dovetailed with innovative technologies, changes in customer behavior and efficient sales strategies.

Project and rollout management

Whether a customer merely needs hardware rolled out or wants an entire branch opened – a project’s success is measured by time, quality and cost. That’s why Wincor Nixdorf is presenting its project management method to ensure efficient management of rollouts and complex projects. This offer represents a one-stop shop for project management that frees up banks to focus fully on their core business.

Facility and security management

As part of an extensive security concept, Wincor Nixdorf offers protection against tampering and vandalism in the self-service zone and branch by means of video surveillance, access control and alarm management so that impending danger can be identified promptly and customers’ security enhanced significantly. Wincor Nixdorf also offers consulting on optimal control of building services so that technical failures of whatever nature, such as faults in the air-conditioning, can be detected at an early stage and prevented in order to avoid further damage.

Outsourcing of branch operation

The larger and more widespread a branch network is, the more complex it is to manage information and telecommunications technology. So that a bank can focus fully on its core business, Wincor Nixdorf offers to assume responsibility for operating the entire information and communications infrastructure of a branch – self-service machines, networks, desktop PCs, servers and telecommunications. With its Managed Services, Wincor Nixdorf ensures highly available systems and optimal support for all equipment throughout its service life.

Check-up for the branch
Together with two partners, Wincor Nixdorf shows how current branch processes can be implemented with a branch environment that boasts a modern design. Kranz InnenArchitekten as the design partner, Selecta as the specialist for furniture and interior design, and Wincor Nixdorf as the expert for managing and operating branches jointly present their range of services at this branch. Kranz InnenArchitekten offers a free design check during the trade show and makes suggestions for optimizing newly planned or existing branches.
