Wincor Nixdorf offers banks and retailers complete transaction processing

The transfer and processing of transactions with debit and credit cards generates a high administration overhead for financial institutes and retail companies alike, and also requires a suitable IT infrastructure. Capital and operating expenses can be reduced if this field of activity is delegated to a service provider. Wincor Nixdorf offers this new service and, as the Outsourcing partner, assumes responsibility for full technical and operational handling of all transaction processes between the terminal devices and banks’ host systems.

Wincor Nixdorf’s payment processing services for retail companies include the provision of the IT infrastructure, transfer of all card transactions to the acquirer (the bank that settles the card payments for retailers), transaction processing, and the provision and support of the terminals at the retailer’s premises. Wincor Nixdorf can also assume responsibility for issuing company customer cards or voucher cards (used for gift certificates, for example) and for handling transactions with them.

A further advantage in addition to highly available service: retailers are no longer tied to a specific bank if they outsource their card payment infrastructure to Wincor Nixdorf. The option of changing its financial services provider improves a retailer’s position when it comes to negotiating lower charges. The subsidiary of a UK retail group that delegated its transaction processes in the Czech Republic to Wincor Nixdorf was able to obtain far better conditions as a result.

Wincor Nixdorf’s transaction processing services for banks range from transaction checking and forwarding to authorization, back-up and transfer of the posting data records, and provision of the data center and network infrastructure. All types of national and international cards are processed. The service covers all transactions offered at Self-Service Terminals: from balance inquiries to cash dispensing. Wincor Nixdorf also assumes responsibility for maintenance, remote monitoring, optimized replenishment of the automated teller machines and operation of the transaction platform.

As part of its Outsourcing services for banks and retailers, Wincor Nixdorf complies with the strict specifications of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Quick and smooth transaction processes are ensured by automatic synchronization with systems at other locations and automatic transfer of the relevant functions. Remote monitoring and maintenance of the systems guarantee their high availability. Improved reporting functions are another distinguishing feature of the transaction platform used by Wincor Nixdorf. As a result, transactions can be monitored and analyzed online, at the branch or store, and at the head office.
