State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest lender, has awarded Wincor Nixdorf and its local partner AGS Infotech an order for 1,000 ATMs. The bank will install 300 multifunctional ProCash 2100xe systems and 700 ProCash 1500xe cash dispensers.
This is the first order for Wincor Nixdorf from SBI which operates an ATM network of approximately 15,000 ATMs and 12,000 bank branches across India.

“We are delighted that Wincor Nixdorf will provide state-of-the-art ATM systems to help SBI provide its customers with reliable and convenient cash services across the country,” said Ricardos Khoury, Asia Pacific vice president and head of banking division at Wincor Nixdorf.

As part of the contract AGS Infotech will supply, install, commission and maintain the ATMs at the sites across the country on behalf of Wincor Nixdorf.

SBI plans to add a further 1,000 branches and 10,000 ATMs in 2009/2010, with the bulk of them in urban areas to cater to rising self-service demand, and rural areas that have so far had limited access to automated banking services.
