Wincor Nixdorf's ATMs concured the European market

Published: 12 July 2005 y., Tuesday

Wincor Nixdorf International installed more than 2,000 multifunction ATMs with cash/check deposit modules internationally since January. The module is being deployed in the United States, France, the United Kingdom and Germany, where it’s sold as a cash-only deposit module.

According to a news release from the company, Wincor is the only manufacturer to enable checks to be deposited in bundles. The system can accept 50 unsorted banknotes U.S. bills or up to 50 checks. The component is designed as an upgrade module for ProCash models 2100xe, 2150xe and 3100xe. It also is available on the ProCash 3000.

With its module, Wincor Nixdorf is migrating check-processing and cash-deposit to the ATM, moving toward fully electronic-check processing. The amount shown on the check is read by the system and displayed on-screen to the customer for confirmation. The customer can request a printed receipt showing images of the deposited check or checks. Image data can be archived and sent to the issuing financial institution later.
