The annual ratings

The annual ratings announced by London Survey Company “Mercer Human Resource Consulting” (there were 215 cities rated) prove that Vilnius, according to its quality of life and security, is the third top ranked city in Eastern Europe. Vilnius is considered to be more secure than Milan, Athens or Rome. Within the scope of the rating of quality, produced according to 39 aspects, Lithuanian and Slovenian capital cities received 83.5 points. The best place to live in the Eastern Europe is Prague, the Check capital city, which received 87.5 points as well as Budapest (87 points). Sociologists from London evaluated the life quality stressing out political, economic, social and cultural, medical, health, educational, environmental, transport, and consumption facets. Many other cities in the Eastern Europe received less credit due to its high number of delinquency and non effective legal system. The safest cities in Eastern Europe are Bratislava and Ljubljana, places at 56, and receiving 104.5 points. Vilnius, having received 98 points, shares the third place with Prague. Tallinn received 96 points. The most dangerous city is Moscow. The city is places at 184th position and received 48.5 points. The safest city in the Western Europe is Luxembourg, receiving 133.5 points. Life quality and security was compared to New York which got 100 points. The data was collected in fall 2002.
