ATMIA (Asynchronous Transfer Mode Industry Association) organized the conference, the sponsor of which is the company “Penkiø kontinentø bankinës technologijos“ (“Penki Kontinentai Banking Technologies”) BS/2 – a member of the directorate of ATMIA from June. JSC “Penkiø kontinentø bankinës technologijos“ (“Penki Kontinentai Banking Technologies”) BS/2 is a secondary company of the “Penki kontinentai”, which was established in 2001 after the department of banking technologies was expanded. A successful six years experience stimulated the establishment of a separate modern and dynamic company, which will work well in Lithuania and at the foreign markets. A new surge of logical attacks on ATMs: what the Belgian experience teaches

In June and July 2020, ATMs of the Belgian bank Argenta were attacked by hackers. Using special software, the criminals seized control of the ATMs and withdrew all the cash that was there. The bank not only suffered financial and reputational losses, but was also forced to take out of service 143 ATMs with a similar software stack to avoid a recurrence of incidents. more »
