SmartCard2009 – 10th international conference and exhibition of smart cards technologies and standards will take place in Opatija (Croatia) from 28 till 30 September. The newest smart cards solutions: smart identity cards, fare payment cards, “smart” passports, e-signature projects, security technologies, etc. will be presented at the event.

According to exhibition’s steering committee member Ante Polonio, European banking service market is currently undergoing a period of significant organizational changes; furthermore, the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) is developing.

“On one hand, banks unite into alliances and introduce the costs optimizing technologies in order to cut their expenditures. On the other hand, new services are emerging due to market competition with a view to attract new customers,” said Mr. Polonio.

The introduction of EMV card to support the Card Not Present (CPN) transactions, cards emission and maintenance problems (crime prevention, creating loyalty and cash-advance systems, authentication) are among the European “hot topics” at the present time.

It’s expected that over 310 representatives of banks, financial institutions, public institutions from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia, Italy and other countries will take part in the event SmartCard2009 and will share their experience.

BS/2, a company of the Penki Kontinentai Group, will represent Lithuania at the exhibition. Its representatives will organize a lot of meetings to discuss prospects of cooperation with the representatives of the local banks, financial institutions, and operating centers.

“We will discuss the issues of cooperation in cash operations control and management areas with the event organizer MBU Ltd. We will also present our product ATMeye.IQ to the bank Zagrebacka Banka. ATMeye.IQ not only performs video-monitoring of self-service devices but also ensures secure operating of the entire firmware,” said Andrius Ojeras, Head of the BS/2 Sales Department.
