On September 22–24, Croatia will be hosting the international expo conference Smart Card 2008 to discuss microchip card standards, technologies, their application in finances, retail and other areas.

The event, which will be the largest of its kind in the Balkan region, will also be presenting card production technologies, data security issues, and e-banking prospects.

The organisers of Smart Card 2008 say that the event will be attended by more than 250 companies from Greece, Turkey, Austria, Serbia, Bosnia, Slovenia, Croatia and other countries, including such enterprises as Bull, First Data, Austrian Card, etc.

Lithuania at the event will be represented by a Penki Kontinentai company: Penkių Kontinentų Bankinės Technologijos (BS/2). The company’s specialists will be presenting the video security and surveillance system ATMeye, the software for automated cash safety boxes SmartSafe and other solutions at the expo.

During the conference that will be held within the framework of the event, BS/2’s Director for Software Sales Karolis Mačionis will deliver a report on a software product for managing cash flows in automated teller machines.

“At the expo, we will present a variety of projects, update our existing business contacts and look for new partners in the Balkan countries that have such promising markets,” Mačionis said.

The Penki Kontinentai group sells its solutions and services in over 60 countries across Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia. In 2007, the sales of the group totalled LTL 382 million.
